Claude & AI curiosities

Stories, records and facts you probably didn't know about Claude, Anthropic and the world of artificial intelligence.

🎩

Why is it called Claude?

The name is widely attributed as a tribute to Claude Shannon, the father of information theory, whose 1948 work laid the mathematical foundations of all modern computing. Without Shannon, no bits; without bits, no Claude.

📜

An AI with a constitution

Claude is trained with Constitutional AI: rather than relying only on human corrections, the model learns from an explicit set of written principles — its "constitution" — inspired by documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

👨‍👩‍👧

Founded by ex-OpenAI researchers

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei along with other former OpenAI researchers, with AI safety as its core mission. Its public benefit corporation structure legally requires balancing profit and public interest.

🍕

Claude ran a shop (and it was a charming disaster)

In the "Project Vend" experiment, Anthropic let Claude run a small real shop at its offices for weeks: it negotiated with suppliers, set prices… and also gave away too many discounts and invented a Venmo account. Real learning about autonomous agents.

🎮

Claude plays Pokémon

"Claude Plays Pokémon" became a phenomenon: a Twitch experiment where Claude played Pokémon Red reasoning through every move. Thousands of people watching an AI get lost in Mt. Moon for hours — and celebrating every badge like a World Cup final.

Claude Code was born for internal use

Claude Code started as an internal CLI tool for Anthropic's own engineers. It became so popular inside the company that they released it publicly in 2025 — and today it's one of the fastest-growing developer tools in history.

🔤

Haiku, Sonnet, Opus: poetry in the names

The model sizes follow poetic logic: a haiku is brief (fast model), a sonnet has medium structure (balance) and an opus is the grand work (maximum capability). Elegance even in the naming.

🤝

MCP: the standard that united rivals

The Model Context Protocol, created by Anthropic, was adopted by OpenAI, Google and Microsoft too — something extremely rare in such a competitive industry. Today it's the "USB-C of AI": the universal connector between models and tools.

🧭

The public system prompt

Anthropic openly publishes Claude's system prompts in its documentation — you can read the exact instructions that shape the assistant's behavior. A transparency exercise that's uncommon in the industry.

🌍

AI already speaks (very good) Spanish

Spanish is one of the world's most spoken languages, and frontier models like Claude handle it with near-native fluency. Even so, quality AI content in Spanish remains scarce — exactly the gap this website wants to fill.

Claude vs. other AIs: what makes it different?

Each lab has its own personality. ChatGPT (OpenAI) bets on mass consumer product and multimodality; Gemini (Google) on total integration with its ecosystem; and Claude (Anthropic) has earned the reputation of being the developers' favorite: excellent at code and writing, more "thoughtful" in its answers, and a pioneer in agents that work autonomously with Claude Code and Cowork.

The best news: you don't have to marry any of them. Understanding how they work — with our guides on skills, connectors and prompts — makes you better at using all of them.
