Anthropic has reportedly moved around $71 billion in compute financing in 60 days

A $35 billion deal closed in June with Apollo and Blackstone funds more than a gigawatt of Google TPUs. According to the reporting, a second deal of roughly $36 billion is in early-stage talks. None of the parties would comment.

  • Confirmed: $35B closed in June 2026 for over 1 GW of TPUs via the AI XPV Platform with Broadcom.
  • Unconfirmed: a second ~$36B deal led by Blackstone for Google Ironwood TPUs, in preliminary talks.

Note: this reporting comes from market sources and all parties involved declined to comment. We treat it as preliminary.

What is closed: in June 2026 Anthropic closed a $35 billion deal with Apollo and Blackstone to fund more than one gigawatt of Google TPUs, channelled through the AI XPV Platform alongside Broadcom.

What is being negotiated: a second deal of roughly $36 billion led by Blackstone for Google Ironwood TPUs, structured in tranches of approximately $6 billion (A1), $25 billion (A2) and $4.5 billion (B).

Why it matters: if confirmed, it would be one of the largest infrastructure financings in recent history, and it explains why a possible Anthropic IPO keeps appearing on the calendar. Building a frontier lab in 2026 increasingly resembles building a utility: capital intensive, long lead times and structured debt.
